Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7)
One of my favorite things is praying with children and listening to what they want God to know about what is going on in their lives – about what was good today, about what was maybe scary today, about who they love and ask God to care for, and on and on and on….and sometimes it can go on and on as well!
But children, as well as many youth and adults, have a hard time verbalizing their emotions and sharing what is worrying them. It can be hard to focus and realize in the moment what is triggering those emotions and worries. And this is when praying with others can be such a powerful thing. Most of us are often very willing to pray and share with God if someone just asks the question “How are you feeling today?”
So today, take a moment to pray with someone, asking them “How are you feeling today? Is there anything bothering you or weighing on your heart today? Let’s ask God to help us with that.” As you pray, you can incorporate a physical prayer as well by using your hands to bring to God your worries with your hands and as you give those worries to God, turn your palms downward to let the worries go. God is ready to receive all those worries and cares because God cares about everything that you are going through today!
