| Good Morning Members and Friends of First United Methodist Church,|
Today’s Daily Update was written by our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Sandee Cole. Thank you, Sandee, for your encouraging words! Have a great day!
From Sandee Cole…
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Mathew 28:19-20
During this time of social and physical distancing and self-isolation, loneliness has been weighing heavy for many of us. We long to feel the presence of our friends that we miss seeing and sharing life with each day. I am sure this is similar to how the disciples must have felt when Jesus returned to heaven after spending so much time with them after his resurrection. But when we remember and reflect on Jesus’ words that he spoke to the disciples just before he left them, that he is always with us, we can find comfort each day in knowing that we are not alone also. When we take time to reflect and recognize that Jesus is present with us always, we recognize also that we are truly NEVER alone, ever! But sometimes, we need to be reminded to look and be aware of this fact each day.
This summer, First Kids will have an opportunity to see and share how Jesus is with them always through the Flat Jesus project. Each child is receiving a copy of Flat Jesus to color and cut out and take with them on their summer adventures, such as a trip with family, on a bike ride, to the park, to the gas station, etc. They are encouraged to take a photo of Jesus with them on their adventure and email it to the church to share with others through First News and other communications, as well as having families help share their photos through social media. By having Flat Jesus with them and sharing their adventures, they are reminded daily that Jesus is with them always and sharing this truth with others as well.
Summer activity packets have been delivered to First Kids families with the necessary supplies to make a Flat Jesus, along with a VBS CD and other fun summer activities. If your family, for some reason, has not received a summer activity packet or you know of someone who would like to participate in the Flat Jesus Project this summer, please email Sandee at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the church.
If you are a “kid-at-heart” who would also like to participate in the Flat Jesus Project with our church this summer, email Sandee or call the church and we will get the Flat Jesus Project supplies to you also!
Let us never forget that Jesus has promised to be with us always…and that this is good news worth sharing with others!
