Good Morning Members and Friends of First United Methodist Church,

As a new week begins, we are mixing things up a bit with the Daily Updates and highlighting some new opportunities for us to connect as a community of faith. First and foremost, we want to keep you spiritually encouraged and informed about what is happening at First Church. Here is our new line-up for inspiration and communication:

Mondays at 9am- The Monday Update will be delivered to your email inbox with updates about what is currently happening at First Church.

Tuesdays at Noon- Music in May: Throughout May, “Tune” in for a weekly musical treat from First Church. Each video will become available Tuesday noon via our Church Website at: www.watertownfirst.church/watch or Church Facebook Page at: www.facebook.com/watertownfirstumc. The videos will remain accessible for future viewing. Nourish your soul with hope, trust and thankfulness through music.

Wednesdays at Noon- Flat Jesus Appearances: Join Sandee Cole on our Church Facebook Page at: www.facebook.com/watertownfirstumc as Flat Jesus makes appearances all over town to remind us that Jesus is with us always and everywhere!

Thursdays at 9am- The Mid-Week Update will be delivered to your email inbox with updates about what is currently happening at First Church. A paper copy of the Mid-Week Update will be mailed to those in the congregation who do not have email.

Fridays at Noon- Fun Fridays: Check out our Church Facebook Page for cute cartoons, silly jokes, or fun photos to encourage you!

We hope that this mix of written, musical, and video messages will be a daily encouragement to you in your journey of life and faith!

In Christ,

Pastor Sara

Maskateers Ministry- 300 Masks have been delivered so far!
Jenkins Living Center, Avantara and Edgewood Assisted Living and Memory Care are in need of cloth masks as we all continue to deal with COVID-19. In making cloth masks for these frontline health care workers, we will be able to show our support of these care givers who do what most of us cannot do.

There are several ways we can provide support.

  • Donations of 100% cotton fabric–quilting fabric is ideal
  • 1/4″ to 3/8″ elastic
  • Neutral colored thread

In addition, we need help with the sewing. We will each sew at home. A pattern will be provided. Sue Togel has offered to head up this new ministry. Donations of fabric, elastic or neutral colored thread can be taken to the church Monday through Friday and placed in the specially marked tub located by the NE church door. If you need your items picked up or if you are willing to help sew, you may contact Sue at stogel@midco.net or you may call her at 605-520-6136.

Sermon Available Now. If you would like to receive a copy of the sermon on a weekly basis, please contact the church at 886-4427 or office@watertownfirst.church. We will mail the sermon directly to you each week.

ONLINE ONLY Worship Services: We will continue to worship ONLINE ONLY at least through the remainder of May and possibly beyond until a plan is developed to safely re-open the church. To participate in any of the worship services, please go to the Church Facebook Page at: www.facebook.com/watertownfirstumc or the Church Website at: www.watertownfirst.church/watch.

Church Building Closed: The church building will remain closed at least through the remainder of May and possibly beyond until a plan is developed to safely re-open the church.

Church Office and Pastors Continue to be Available: Even though the church building is closed, our office manager will be in the office to answer your phone calls and pastors are available in case of a pastoral emergency.

Church Finances: We’ve had a number of questions about how COVID-19 will affect the financial health of the church. The church’s financial health will be dependent on its members and friends making an intentional effort to continue to give. There are several methods available for giving. You can mail your tithe and offerings to the church at: First United Methodist Church, 4 Second Ave SE, Watertown, SD 57201 or give online at: www.watertownfirst.church/giving-back.
