5.21.20 Midweek Update from Pastor Sara

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. (Philippians 1:3-6)

This past weekend we celebrated and prayed for our high school graduates during our online worship services. It is exciting to see the graduates enter into a new chapter of their lives. As all of you know, our church will be entering into its next chapter soon and I will be entering into a new chapter of my life soon. In less than three weeks, my family and I will be saying goodbye to Watertown and moving to Sioux Falls for me to serve as the senior pastor at First United Methodist Church down there. Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th will be my last weekend preaching and leading worship at Watertown First United Methodist Church.

If this feels a little like it snuck up on you, it feels like that to me too. I would have never guessed that we would be saying goodbye to one another in the midst of a global pandemic which has made this all the more difficult.

My family and I miss seeing you and we would like to invite you to the Goodbye Drive-Thru Parade that the Leadership Team has planned for Saturday, June 6th from 1-2pm at the Church. We look forward to having the opportunity to see all of you.

As we begin to say goodbye to one another, I want you to know how grateful that I am for all of you. I’m thankful for the ways that you have helped me grow in faith as a person and as a pastor for the past ten years. I am grateful for the ways that you have shared the gift of faith with me, with each other, and with the people of Watertown.

Even though this chapter of our life together is coming to a close, I am excited for the church’s next chapter under the leadership of Pastor Jen Tyler. God’s work is only yet begun at Watertown First United Methodist Church!

With Gratitude,

Pastor Sara
