So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Good Morning Members and Friends of First United Methodist Church,
In his letter to the Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul writes: “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Over this past week, I have been deeply encouraged to see the ways in which people are encouraging one another and building each other up, especially within the church.
I know that people have been calling each other for encouragement. I know that people have been texting each other to check in. I encourage you to stay connected to each other, especially right now. With the social distancing that we have been encouraged to do, it is easy for people to feel isolated and lonely. You may never know how much an encouraging phone call or text may mean to someone.
As a church, I would like to make you aware of some ways that we are trying to stay connected. With our children and families, Sandee Cole (our Children’s Coordinator) is putting together activity packets and online resources that children and families can do at home to grow in faith together each week. New activity packets and online resources will be sent out on Fridays and Tuesdays, starting today. If you are interested in receiving an activity packet and online resources, please contact Sandee at:firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are also starting a new ministry called Calling Friends Ministry. We are looking for volunteers who would be willing and able to call someone in our congregation 1-2 times each week to talk, to listen, and to keep people informed about what’s happening in the church. If you are interested in serving as a Calling Friend or if you know someone who would like to receive a call from a Calling Friend, please contact Pastor Marilyn at:email@example.com.
Friends, it is very important that we stay connected with one another in this uncertain time. May we take Paul’s words to heart by encouraging and building each other up!
