Our Purpose
Connect! Grow! Serve!
Discipleship at FirstChurch
At FirstChurch, we want to be a place that invites all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ so we can transform the world together.
With many hours of prayer and research we have developed a Discipleship Pathway that we believe can assist in our call to be disciples that influence those around us and become more devoted followers of Jesus.
When we CONNECT, there needs to be a place to begin. At FirstChurch, we believe that connecting shouldn’t be stressful or difficult. We frequently offer introductory classes that are welcoming as well as informative. Our weekend worship gatherings are a perfect place to begin; where some questions are answered and anyone can find a place that fits who they’ve been, who they are, and where God is calling them to go!
To GROW, we seek community and education. At FirstChurch we’ve come to the conclusion that before asking anyone to believe, it is our job to help them feel like they belong; that there is a place for everyone. We offer groups with low-intensity gatherings that focus on community building and relationship. These groups are a perfect place to find people like you, or find people with different life experiences to learn about God from a different perspective.
After that, the path leads toward a place to believe. This step on the path is full of opportunities to GROW in knowledge and faith. From bible study groups to seasonal and topical groups, we offer many ways to stay rooted in community and biblical truth. Many of these groups are ongoing, year-round groups that welcome anyone at any time. These groups offer challenges to be better people as well as encouragement during the difficult times of life.
At FirstChurch, one of our core values is to be a body of believers who SERVE. It is our call to bless those around us. This step of the path takes courage and sacrifice. We organize and host many SERVE opportunities that help those in need in our community. We also believe that everyone is gifted differently so we help facilitate many places and times to use those gifts for God’s kingdom. From weekend worship volunteers and local mission work to our faith to give of our finances, we can be people who bless our community.
This pathway is not a race; not a list of tasks to check off after completion. It is a continual circle of new beginnings, community to belong to, strengthening our belief, and blessing those around us.
